Initial Sketches

Hand-drawn purple wavy line.

The brief for this book cover was to create a cosy feel that was inspired by the writers poetry and British folklore. In both designs I included important imagery from the text such as the robin, fire and squirrel. I experimented with a landscape design and a design using frames and quilting motifs. For this design I also got to explore different hand drawn typography.

The Final Cover

For the final design I chose to use a colour palette that radiated warmth and comfort. I enjoyed challenging myself to illustrate the way the light from the fire created a glow across the whole image. This design was published by Written Off Publishing.
